ROY, Anil Kumar - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anil Roy who died in his home on July 26, 2010. Beloved husband of Annette Roy (deceased) for 42 years. Loving father of Nicola (Arden) Rosaasen, Julian (Renu) Roy, and Matthew Roy. Proud grandfather of Canute, Nathaniel and Leif Rosaasen, and Aanika and Jaya Roy. Anil was born in West Bengal, India on August 3, 1936, the second last of eight children. He graduated from Medical School in Calcutta in 1957 and subsequently completed his General Surgery at Edinburgh University. He practiced surgery in various hospitals in England over the next ten years. He met Annette at Mexborough Hospital in South Yorkshire, and they were married on September 25,1965. Anil and his young family emigrated to Canada in 1970, settling in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. He practiced surgery in Humboldt for 27 years before retiring to Saskatoon and then Guelph. In retirement, he avidly pursued his love of birding, travel and golf. After a lifetime of caring for others, his last patient was his wife who he lovingly nursed through her year-long battle with cancer. The family will receive friends at the Gilbert McIntyre and Son Funeral Home, "Hart Chapel",1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 12 p.m. A reception will follow in the fellowship lounge.
